NEDDE – [Neurodiversity, Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating]

While research shows 1 in 5 are estimated to be Neurodivergent, this number significantly rises in those with Eating Diversity, and we recognise the traditional approach to supporting Eating Diversity does not embrace the individuality of the Neurodivergent client, nor their need to be supported in a person-centered way.

Courses are led by Bernie Wright and Lisa Smith and call upon the knowledge of key experts in the field of both Neurodiversity and Eating Disorders, with the aim of helping attendees to deepen their understanding of working with these two, often coexisting issues.

Bernie Wright (BACP Accredited) will explore the complexities of working with clients suffering from disordered eating and eating disorders, particularly focusing on neurodivergent individuals. This session will provide a comprehensive understanding of recognizing and addressing eating disorders in both neurodivergent and neurotypical clients.

Bernie Wright will guide participants through navigating ethical considerations, cultural contexts, and the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals. Key topics include developing a person-centered approach, understanding recovery challenges, identifying neurodivergent traits, and implementing successful interventions.

This session is ideal for those looking to effectively support this growing client demographic.
