Having been there as a parent, I can vividly recall how lonely and isolating it is caring for someone with an eating disorder. You have lots of questions, worries and concerns and often nowhere to turn for answers. Your loved one’s treatment team is focused on your loved one, rather than providing you with support and skills.
Often, to preserve your loved one’s privacy, you don’t share details of the illness with close friends and family, carrying the burden within your own direct family – meaning you’ve no outlet for support and are left feeling overwhelmed and lonely.
Our Monthly Parents and Carers Support Group is your safe space to:
- share
- learn a new skill (we focus on a different topic every month)
- find your tribe
- be yourself
- hold onto the hope of recovery
Each month, parents and family members support each other as well as learn new skills. They share their own experiences of the recovery process, what has worked and what they have learned along the way. They get the opportunity to avail of our expertise too!
