Content Guidelines:
All content shared as part of the campaign must adhere to the following principles:
- Accuracy: Use evidence-based information and reliable sources. Avoid spreading unverified claims or pseudoscience.
- Sensitivity: Be mindful of the language and imagery used. Avoid triggering language (references to specific weights, caloric intake, or appearance comparisons), numbers, graphic descriptions of eating disorder behaviours or sharing images that may harm individuals in recovery
- Inclusivity: Represent diverse populations and experiences, including gender, ethnicity, age, and socioeconomic status. Represent the full spectrum of eating disorders and linkages/overlaps with neurodiversity. Avoid perpetuating the stereotype that eating disorders only affect young, thin, white women
- Clarity: Use simple, accessible language to ensure the information is understandable to a wide audience.
- Action-Oriented: Encourage tangible steps, such as enrolling in training programs, engaging in discussions, or sharing resources.
Community Guidelines
Engagement within the #EDInformed campaign should foster a positive and respectful community. Participants and contributors must:
- Respect Diversity: Acknowledge that eating disorders affect people from all backgrounds and avoid stigmatizing comments.
- Avoid Harmful Comments: Refrain from discussing specific numbers, weight loss techniques, or personal comparisons.
- Be Supportive: Offer encouragement, constructive input, and helpful resources.
- Report Issues: Flag inappropriate or harmful content for moderation.
Collaborations and Partnerships
Any collaboration with organizations, influencers, or healthcare professionals should:
- Be aligned with the campaign’s mission and values.
- Agree to follow the campaign’s content and community guidelines.
- Disclose partnerships and sponsorships transparently to maintain trust.
Ethical Considerations
- Privacy: Do not share personal stories, images, or testimonials without explicit consent.
- Non-Promotion of Harmful Products: Avoid associating the campaign with products or services that may perpetuate diet culture, such as fad diets or unregulated supplements.
- Empowerment: Focus on empowering healthcare professionals with knowledge and skills, rather than shaming or blaming for gaps in understanding.
