Would you like to be more confident in working with clients with body and food issues?
Many clinicians are interested in eating disorders but feel uncertain about whether this area of practice is right for them. Often clinicians feel unequipped to work with eating disorders given the lack of training in the topic as part of psychology/clinician training.
This training, open to clinicians across all stages of professional development, will help you to develop a clear, realistic understanding of eating disorders and what is involved in working ethically and effectively with individuals affected by them. Participants will be equipped with practical, usable knowledge, supported to avoid common clinical pitfalls, and encouraged to challenge myths and stigma that can inadvertently be perpetuated in practice.
The presenters will guide participants through:
• Early signs of eating disorders that are commonly overlooked
• Common clinical blind spots in assessment and intervention
• Accessible, evidence-informed strategies for prevention, early intervention, and appropriate referral
This course is suitable for clinicians across all stages of professional development. It is designed as a foundation-level training and assumes no prior specialist knowledge of eating disorders. At the same time, the content is relevant for more experienced clinicians working in the field, who may also benefit from refreshed perspectives, reflection on clinical blind spots, and updated, evidence-informed approaches.
Training will be delivered by Dr Zuleika Daly, doctor of counselling and psychotherapy, Zuzanna Gajowiec, Clinical Psychologist and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Consultant (CEDS-C) and Deirdre Reddan, Family Coach/Mentor and Master Practitioner in Eating Disorders.
CPD Approved by PSI and FTAI.
